How much does a Science City Kolkata ticket cost?

Science City Kolkata timings: when to go
Science City is open every day of the week, including most public holidays, which makes it one of the more reliable rainy-day and Sunday options in the city. Published opening times vary slightly between sources, with morning opening reported as either 9 AM or 10 AM and closing in the early evening, so treat roughly 10 AM to 7 PM as the safe planning window and confirm on the official site if you are travelling from outside the city.
The 3D Digital Theatre runs on a fixed schedule with language-specific shows. The current film, VOYAGER: The Never-Ending Journey, runs about 26 minutes in a 360-seat dome:

The best time to arrive is between 10 AM and 12 noon on a weekday. Weekends, school holidays and the Durga Puja and winter vacation weeks bring long counter queues and full shows. School groups tend to dominate weekday mornings during term time, which is worth knowing if you are bringing very young children.
What to see inside: the main halls
Dynamotion Hall
This is the hands-on heart of the complex and the section children remember. It houses physical science exhibits you operate yourself, an illusion gallery, a Nano Lab, a Power of 10 display, a biodiversity section, an aquarium and a butterfly enclave. Live science shows run through the day. If you only have two hours, spend most of them here.
Space Odyssey
The space theatre wing covers the 3D Digital Theatre, a separate 3D Theatre, the motion-simulator Time Machine ride and the Reflections gallery. These are individually ticketed and are the attractions most likely to sell out on busy days.
Earth Exploration Hall and Science Exploration Hall
The Earth Exploration Hall deals with the planet’s systems and resources. The Science Exploration Hall is the more ambitious of the two, with an Evolution of Life dark ride, a digital panorama on human evolution, a gallery on India’s science and technology heritage and an emerging technologies section. Adults and older students usually get more out of these halls than the under-tens do.
Outdoor attractions
Outside the halls you have the Outdoor Science Park, the Maritime Centre, Science on a Sphere, a butterfly nursery, a musical fountain and the cable car ride that crosses the campus. The Nature Trail Park and Picnic Garden is a separate ticketed area popular with families and school picnics in the cooler months, roughly November to February.

- By metro: Barun Sengupta station, officially also called Science City, sits on the Orange Line and opened on 22 August 2025. It is the closest and most predictable option, and it removes the EM Bypass traffic problem entirely.
- By bus: A large number of routes run along the EM Bypass and stop at the Science City crossing, which is one of the better-served stops on that corridor.
- By app cab or auto: Straightforward from anywhere in central or south Kolkata, though fares rise sharply during evening peak on the Bypass.

Is Science City Kolkata worth visiting?
For families with school-age children, yes, comfortably. Dynamotion Hall alone justifies the trip, and the mix of indoor halls and outdoor rides means a full day works even in bad weather. For adult visitors with a general interest in science and no children in tow, two to three hours focused on the Science Exploration Hall and one 3D show is a better use of time than trying to cover everything.
A few practical points. Buy your show tickets as soon as you enter, because slots fill from the middle of the day. Food inside the campus is limited and unremarkable, so eat before you arrive or plan to leave for a meal. Large bags face restrictions at some hall entrances.
